Plot Summary
The film is a romantic comedy that revolves around Payal (Kangana Ranaut) and Madhav "Maddy" Kabra (Imran Khan). Maddy is an architect, who is in love with Payal because of her attitude towards life. They fall in love, and have a happy relationship for 5 years, until a sudden turn of events separate them.
The film is a remake of the Hollywood film 500 Days of Summer (2009).

The film was previously titled "Saali Kutiya". The title was later changed to a modest one as the production team feared the offensive title could raise eyebrows. Director Nikhil Advani earlier mentioned to media that the previous title was way too gimmicky and was not necessary at all keeping in mind the flow of the story and its premises, whereas "Katti Batti" summed up the idea of the film. So a decision was made to discard the previous title, and stick with "Katti Batti".

Actress Ileana D'Cruz was apparently the initial choice for Payal's role.

This is the first film that featured Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan as an on-screen couple.

The film marks Maahir Zaveri's debut as a film editor. Before this, he worked as an Assistant Director in Nikhil Advani's team.

According to a statement made to the media by Imran Khan, director Nikhil Advani approached several of the top heroines in Bollywood to star opposite Imran, but every one of them turned it down. Apparently they liked the role, but didn't want to be cast opposite Imran, after his back-to-back flops during 2011-13. Kangana Ranaut apparently had no qualms about being paired with Imran, and happily signed up for the role.

Imran Khan's uncle, the superstar Aamir Khan provided many suggestions to director Nikhil Advani's during making of the film. Advani stated at one of his interviews that one important suggestion from Aamir had actually changed the entire film. The screenplay of the film initially had many dialogues in English, but they were later changed to Hindi as per Aamir's advice, so that a vast majority of the audience can connect well with the film.

Imagine you are riding an unruly mare that trots, tossing you about, and then, after nearly two hours and 15 minutes of a tumultuous and awful ride, drops you at your destination, safe and sound.

If media reports are to be believed then the makers of Katti Batti wanted to go with the title of ëSaali Kutiyaí initially, and now I wonder why, because the film fails to instigate any emotion, leave aside loathing for its female protagonist.

Katti Batti has a promising start, but a weak script and some run of the mill moments kills the chances of it turning into something worth your time and money.

There are genuine heartfelt stories and then there are stories convoluted to an extent, because the filmmaker thinks will make it work. Unfortunately, Katti Batti falls into the latter category.

When I had seen the promos of the film, I had really great expectations from Katti Batti. But Nikhil Advani is in a cruel mood to disappoint us twice, after giving us a terrific D-Day. Watch this movie only if you are either a Imran Khan or Kangana Ranaut fan.
