Akshay, Twinkle celebrate 16th anniversary

Bollywood superstar "Khiladi" Akshay Kumar and his wife "Mrs Funnybones" Twinkle Khanna completed 16 years of marriage on 17th January.
Being one of Bollywood's longest running marriages, the couple have maintained a rock-solid relationship full of love and humour, despite having been through highs and lows like any other couple on this planet, and on top of that, a relation exposed to constant media and public glare.
Actress-turned-columnist and enterpreneur Twinkle shared a video on Twitter to celebrate the happy occassion and another milestone in their jonurney together. The video shows the couple running towards each other, and captioned "16 years of trying to kill each other and we still haven't succeeded. 16th anniversary. Partners in crime."
Akshay, 49, and Twinkle, 43, who have remained co-stars in Zulmi and International Khiladi, met for the first time during a photo session for Filmfare magazine. The duo tied the knot in 2001. They have two children together - son Aarav, 15, and daughter Nitara, 5. The pair also recently made their debut appearance as a couple on Karan Johar's popular chat show Koffee with Karan - Season 5. The love, admiration and friendship the gorgeous couple share, even after so many years, was clearly evident from how they spoke to each other, and cracked jokes on each other.
For the uninitiated, Twinkle, the eldest daughter of late superstar Rajesh Khanna and National Award winning actress Dimple Kapadia, wasn't serious about her relationship in the beginning with Akshay, who went to become one of the Bollywood A-listers and highest earners by sheer hard work and determination, without having a father figure in the industry. Things changed, by Twinkle's own admission, after she lost a bet to the latter back in 2000. It was in this year that Twinkle, who was an actress at that time, was awaiting a major release Mela which also starred Aamir Khan. Akshay, who had already worked with Twinkle in two films by then, was in love with the actress and proposed to marry her. Although Twinkle got on well with the future superstar, she didn't give marriage much thought. She apparently was confident about the success of the Mela and told Akshay that she would marry him if, for some reason, the movie turns out to be a flop. As we all know, the film failed miserably for various reasons, one of which could be that the two actors were destined to come together. Akshay and Twinkle's love story took off after this, and the duo got married a year later.
In the work front, Akshay will be seen next in Subhash Kapoor's Jolly LLB 2, a courtroom comedy drama, and sequel to 2013 sleeper hit Jolly LLB starring Arshad Warsi. In the film he will be seen alongside Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor. Arshad, who the male protagonist in the prequel will also be seen in a cameo role. The film is due to be released next month.
Akshay is also busy filming for Toilet - Ek Prem Katha directed by Shree Narayan Singh and Neeraj Pandey. The movie is said to be a comic spin-off of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi's "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan".
