7th IIFA Awards (2006)
The 7th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony honoured the best films of 2005 and took place between June 15–17, 2006 in Dubai. The official ceremony took place on June 17, 2006, at the Dubai International Convention Centre. During the ceremony, IIFA Awards were awarded in 29 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in India and internationally on Star Plus. Actors Fardeen Khan and Lara Dutta co-hosted the ceremony. Fardeen had also co-hosted the 2005 IIFA awards while Lara had hosted the 2002 awards.
Vidya Balan starrer "Parineeta" received a total of seventeen nominations out of the total twenty nine categories but could only manage to win six. Rani Mukherjee starrer "Black" on the other hand won nine out of its eleven nominations.
Other multiple awards winners included Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek Bachchan starrer "Bunty Aur Babli" with four awards and "Dus", "Apaharan" and "Aashiq Banaya Aapne" receiving two awards each.
