6th Filmfare Awards (1959)
The 6th Filmfare Awards ceremony held in May 10, 1959 and honored the best Bollywood films of 1958.
Bimal Roy's "Madhumati" emerged the biggest winner of the night after bagging Best Film and Best Director awards.
Dev Anand won his first Best Actor award for "Kala Pani".
Vyjayanthimala won her second Filmfare and first Best Actress award for "Sadhna". She was also nominated in Best Actress category for "Madhumati".
The other film to receive multiple nominations and wins this year was B R Chopra's "Sadhna".
